Ok folks. I skipped my 9 miler this weekend because of my hip being hurty. I'm seeing my ART gal tomorrow and I'm confident she's going to fix it. Power of positive thinking, right?

So I have these long runs still to do:
11
9
11
10
12
6
RACE

How should I alter this? Should I just go right out and do 11 this weekend? Or should I move things around?

What say you, the running experts?

You wanna follow the same plan I did for the Pig?

I'd sure love a look at it... So you think I should try the 11 miles this weekend even tho I missed my run this weekend? Ok. I just wanted to make sure. I see my ART gal tomorrow afternoon. Wish me luck!

Jenna Based on what you've said, I'm gonna go with no.

But I'll have like 10 more days of training for my next one! I'm improving!

my $.02 - shoot for 11, but lay it out so you can stop at 9 if you're not feeling great

I would probably consider you intermediate or even advanced based on our group.

Good call, arc. I'll do the loop by my house so I have options. I like to do this anyway so I don't have to carry my water and crap. I can't find my bottles for my fuel belt anyway

hard to say which is worse, carrying water or running past your house lots of times

as much I prefer not to carry water, passing my house multiple times give me multiple opportunites to cut my run short...

One run will not make or break a training program. You missed one. So what? Your body was telling you to take it easy and you did. That's good. Now, just resume the training plan and carry on as if nothing happened.

Yeah, it's a quandry. I have a 3 mile loop I can do, so that isn't too bad.

Ok, thanks folks! I'm back on track! I've worked harder at this training than any other and I would HATE to see it derailed now. I've been consistent and only skipped a couple mid week runs. Which is great for me since my plan has me running 5xweek, versus the 4 I was used to.

I'm due for a good half. This better be it!

My question is, assuming your longest pre-race run is 12, why are you running longer every weekend?

I'd suggest:

9-11
6
11
6-7
12
6
RACE

I don't think I understand what you are asking...

The race is in June, and right now my long run is up to 9 miles last weekend and 11 next. Then it bounces around (as you saw at the top in my post) with long runs each weekend. Is that not good?

I got the training plan from this site. So I'm just following it to the best of my ability!

Oh, I see now... Is that as effective as the longer runs each weekend? I'm certainly open to that, especially with the hip thing right now.

You'll get all kinds of differing training advice, but in my estimation you only need a long run every other weekend (I've never run a long run on consecutive weekends). To many long runs will end up tiring out your legs over the course of a training plan. See my recommendations above.

Thanks Coach! I saw your edit after I posted. I can definitely work with that, given my tendency to get injured about this point in my training. Plus some weekends I just don't want to spend 2 hours running on Sunday. When it's football season, I really have to plan so I don't miss any games!
