I just surrendered my license for 30 days and i am starting to run to work whenever my wife can't drive me to work. I stage my suits, shirts and ties at work then I can run to work the next two days or so. Its only about 1.5 to 2 miles depending on the route I take but its going to be 2 or 3 days a weeks. Also I am going to need a new set of running shoes soon anyone know where I can go to make sure I am getting the right kind of shoe? At reception in Ft. Sill some creepster with a foot fetish told us what kind of shoe to buy. I have just been buying the cheapest shoes I can find since then.

What kind of foot do you have? If you have relatively flat feet, I would suggest the Asics Gel Keyano. I will never wear anything other than these. They are expensive but they work amazingly and are worth the investment for serious runners (ie anyone in any sort of public service)

I ran home from staging my suits and stuff. I took a 2.3 mile route home, I will be running a 2.1 mile route to go to work tonight at 1700. It will be a 4.4mi today.

Go to a running store, *I think Dicks has one, and they usually have machines that tell what kind of gate you have. I am neutral with slight pronate. I use Asics Keyano.

Yeah so I looked into those keyano's, $150 dollars in insane. I can suffer crappy shoes. I would rather save the money for firearms.

Those are top of the line type shoes.  You don't need them.  I used them for marathon running.  I still use them but only when running high mileage.  However, you don't want to get shoes that will hurt you.  Believe it or not, the shoes do matter.  One of the big things that happen from not wearing proper shoes is shin splints.  Anyhow, Asics has cheaper brands that do the same as the keyano's I can't remember thier exact name but they usually run between 50 and 70.
