Former Brooks Adrenaline wearers?

Has anybody here switched from the Brooks Adrenalines recently? What did you switch to? I've been running in the Adrenalines since the III's, but the VI's and VII's don't seem to be lasting as long before I'm getting sore legs.

I've tried the Asics 2120's and liked them in general, but they don't fit me well in the heel.

No idea, Rhody. I've been training in Adrenalines since 2003. GTS 4, 5, 6, and now 7.

The one time I tried venturing from Brooks, I developed some foot pain.

I maintain the reasoning, "If it ain't broke..."

I liked the GTS 6 better than the 7s, but I'm dealing with it. It aint horrible.

I agree that these shoes don't last long. Mine retire after 325-350 miles -- they feel dead after 300.

Glad to see that I'm not crazy - I've got about 250 miles on mine (6's) and things are starting to hurt...plus some random blistering that's never been an issue before. I have a pair of 7s in the closet, think I'll bring them out in another 100 miles.

I'm not an Adrenaline wearer, but I am a Glycerin devotee. I love Brooks' shoes, but they wear fast. Then again, I've been outfitting my feet with Brooks since 1999 and don't really know any better. But every time I need a new pair of shoes I consider buying something new and different. I just can't do it, though.

So basically I am of no help.

Weird - I've worn the 5s and the 6s and I've been able to squeeze 550-650 miles out of a pair.

Goals: Hartford Half - 10/9/10 - goal: finish, Philadelphia Marathon - 11/21/10 - goal: finish, 2011 Greater Danbury Half - goal: 1:45, Providence Rhode Races Marathon - 5/1/11 - goal: 3:59, Ragnar New England - 5/20/11, 2011 Maple Leaf Half - goal: 1:29, 2011 Steamtown Marathon - goal: 3:10

I've been wearing the GTS 6s

I think I get around about 400 miles - I am feeling that "my shoes need replacing soreness" lately

actually off to the running store to get something with a bit more support/cushioning this weekend

not sure what to get though
agape at the realization!

I ran in 6s up until it was time to replace them earlier this year. WOund up going with NB 757s. Not sure how much if any I like them better. Only real problem I had with the 6s is I have a flat arch and a bit of a wide foot so my feet always felt like they were rolling over the edge of the sole. May go to the 7s when it comes time to replace the 757s

Good topic--I need new shoes and have for about 3 weeks--I've had the Adrenalines for many years. Last summer I tried Glycerines and they were OK but I felt like they didn't have much fore-foot support. I also tried a switch to Saucony and HATED them--I ended up giving them away to a friend after about 5 runs in them and she gave them back! They were very cushioned, but they felt truly heavy on my feet after a few miles and gave me weird knee issues.

I've always gone back to Adrenalines, but I think I do go through shoes faster than other runner friends. I'm not a tiny runner, either (very medium sized). The shoe guru at the store I go to suggested Mizuno waves the last time, but I'm not sure I liked them much even when trying them on.

Today may be the day for new "feet" myself--I think I'll try out the 7's and see how it goes for now!

Thanks for all the feedback. I've decided to give the New Balance 767's a shot.

I'm still in some 5's and 6's... no 7's yet. I stocked up on the others.
I rotate with Mizuno Alchemy. Love those shoes.
I've always had the best luck with Brooks and Mizuno. I've tried Asics several times, with mixed results. I typically only get about 300 miles out of a pair of shoes for some reason, even though I'm a lightweight.

I hate the shoe issue.

At the store where I work we seem to get a lot of Brooks people saying they aren't getting the wear. Most of them are fast, high mileage runners.

Anybody trying out the Trance?? We haven't sold enough of them yet to get much of an opinion.

i love my Trance's have not tried the brand new ones. I still have the green and white pair. My brooks, mostly cascadias, wear out around 300 miles.

I've worn Brooks for a while...but I finally had it with them. I'm a slow slow runner and I found they always felt heavy and I was only getting 200 miles out of them (at best.) I switched to Asics and I like them a lot more. Although I'm walking (I do a lot of XT walking) in Brooks Dyads and I like them alright.

I LOVE Brooks!!! I wear the Adrenaline and the Trance and I can't see me changing anytime soon. I have three pairs of working shoes at all times and I rotate them diligently. I find that by doing this I am able to really stretch the miles on them. I also NEVER wear my running shoes to do anything but run. I have other shoes for walking, weightlifting, kickboxing, etc.

I am a loyal Brooks GTS wearer - I wore the 4, 5 & now the 7

with the release of the 7, I have now forgiven them for the god awful error that was the GTS 6...

The 7 is better than the 6? I've only ever worn the 6's and I'm in my last pair. I'm looking to go shopping soon.

I wear Adrenalines too. I can usually go about 300 miles before they crap out. Like dg1, I run like a moose...

I'm in 6s at the moment, and was worried about when I need to get new ones. Teh Anti-Kewt's comment about the 7s makes me feel better!
