TGIF - 07/30

Well Today was my last run for the month.  I am just glad this week was over.  My pace sucked and I felt half out of it on all my runs.  Hopefully next week will be better.  I am sort of hoping the fact that I am working next week improves the mental aspect of my running again since I can start looking for races to keep me motivated.

Anyway,  5.2 miles in 78 degrees and 93% humidity in the dark this morning.  Busy day ahead with errands to run etc etc etc.

Have a good day everyone.

Happy Friday, folks.   Hey at least you were out there getting it done FB, with the summer weather in Florida that's gotta be a struggle.

With the group again this morning for 11.4 mostly easy but with a few segments at marathon pace or a bit faster.

Morning...

FB - Don't know how you do it during the summer.  Hang in there.

zrun - Nice going with the group.

Rest day for me.

FB--I dont' know how you run in that weather!

zrun--nicely done.

Dan--rest up!

Fishbowl for me this morning.  2500meters.  Meh....

Busy day ahead.  Need to make salsa with all the tomatoes and peppers.  Way overdue for an oil change.  And a few other random errands to run.

Dan - rest up

zrun - nice going.  What's your marathon pace?  Yes, I'm being nosey.

FB - hey, it's tough going in those conditions.  I'm always impressed by that fact that you get so much done.

4boysmom - long fishing trip I see.

I slacked off this morning because I'm so sleep deprived - the additional 2hrs of sleep was not enough...  Still, I'll try to get out at lunch for 5-8, or whatever.  This week has been a real bear and I still have to pace my wife at the Rock'n'Roll HM on Sunday... oh boy!

Good morning everyone.  I got out for 6.2 miles in 52:03(8:26).  Nice job on the running and such this morning.  I may get a core workout in, but then again I may be done for the day.

Happy Friday all,

It's a much nicer day around here today, a far cry from last night's trail slogfest. 77F, 49% humidity and 57 dewpoint.

I will either get out this afternoon near work or hit the trails again after work, this time at Manassas Battlefield. I have both road shoes and trail shoes in the car so I can go either way. This will be my last run of the month as well, since tomorrow I plan to ride long. My run miles will be a little low while the bike miles should be higher than they've been in quite a while, still nowhere near 4bm/Dave territory mind you, but good for me.

zrun - props on the mileage yet again and a pretty good group you have that can get together for a long run two days in a row

Dan - enjoy the well-deserved rest day

kevin - nice job on the 10k

RA - have fun pacing DW this weekend.

4bm - 2500 meters is a pretty impressive swim in my book

FB - good job on keeping at it through the tough conditions and other challenges

Asics--neat that you get to pace your wife!  You have no idea how lucky you are.

fuller--nice little 10K there!

hawk--glad you are enjoying the bike!  I'll make you a triathlete yet!

Big project done for the day.  Only half a case though.  Last year I canned about 6 cases.  The plants are huge, just no tomatoes!  I asked son3 is he thought the salsa was hot enough.  His eyes bugged out and he said he thought it would be okay.  Guess it's hot enough!

Good day all.

Dan - I am still around, just haven't posted much.  Been on vacation and just haven't made this a priority.

I will be racing this weekend.  The weather forecast doesn't look good.  Well at least it will be sunny!  :(  Looks like the heat index will be well in the triple digets.  Not good for an Olympic Tri.  I guess I need to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.  I am expecting it to be in the low to mid-80s at the start and most of the course is in the direct sun, very little shade.

The race is on Sunday and I just looked at the forecast.  102* on Saturday and 98* for Sunday for the highs and that is straight temps not the heat index.  Humidity will be high in the mornings around 94 and then drop to mid 70s by lunch.   Looks like ti will be hot and sticky.  :D

Dave - good luck in the weekend triathlon (as opposed to all the weekday triathlons you do).  Electrolyte tablets would seem to be the order of the day in that weather.

4boysmom - Yes, I am lucky.  Send some salsa my way!

Hawk - hope today's sun goes better.

kfuller - good job on the 10k and perhaps planks.

I'm pleased to announce that I did get out at lunch. Of course, you were all on the edge of your seats.  So, 7 miles with temps in the mid 70s and cloud cover.  Very hungry now. I need to find a good protein shake.

Great job getting out there for a kick start to the weekend people! I played basketball for a little over an hour with a quite intense tri-weekly group of folks for the first time in about 6 mos. Things went well in everything except the shooting and ball handling department...amazing to think that running doesn't give you very good coordination. ;) Then got in a 28min barefoot shakeout run, 2nd run tonight with the stud girl on the team. That should be quicker since she tends to push the pace.

On a sad note, one of my good friends (freshman year XC captain/roommate) is on his way to officer training for the army for the next 6 months. Yet now I finally can move all my stuff into where I'll be living this year since before my belongings were scattered around the house where space was available. We had fun celebrating his last night in town last night.

Have a great weekend everyone!

RA - hopefully my marathon pace is 7:37s or whatever equates to 3:20, that's my goal anyway.  You probably got the same e-mail I did about the bare-bones rerun of last weekend's cancelled 10 mile race for 8/15, do you think you'll  do it?   It works out pretty well for me, in theory my schedule says I should race the next weekend but flipping seems fine to me.  Enjoy your spousal pacing duties this weekend :)

Dave - good luck for the tri and keep hydrated out there

4boysmom - nice swim great looking salsa!

Hawk - have a good ride.   You all have got me thinking about riding a bike tomorrow but I think I'll do an easy recovery run.   Definitely going to sleep in.

Nice runs, rest and b-ball everyone else and have a great weekend!
