What are your fall marathon plans?

It's not too early to start planning. My goal is a new BQ. The reality is that Boston will probably close out in September again and I won't be ready for a BQ attempt before then. I'm certainly not ready to run 3:35 at VCM on May 30. But I will be able to qualify in a new age class (3:45 instead of 3:35) this fall for the 2012 Boston Marathon. Last year the Mohawk Hudson River Marathon, one of my favorites, closed out early so I ran the inaugural Asbury Park Marathon. It was fun and I'd like to do both but this year they're only a week apart. And I'd like to run the Adirondack Marathon again. But that would be a tough schedule: Reach The Beach Relay, Adirondack one week later, Mohawk Hudson two weeks later, then Asbury Park one week later. And I told myself to stop doing multiples!

So I'll probably sign up for Mohawk Hudson. It's a really fast course, plus my pal Sparky is doing it. But I have to decide on Asbury Park today (May 9) because the entry fee goes up tomorrow. Oh heck, you'll probably see me at all three, Adirondack, Mohawk and Asbury Park. Then maybe one more in November...

What about you all?

Yeah, Mohawk Hudson River Marathon is on 10-10-10 too. I'm making the prediction that 10-10-10 will set a record for the most marathon participants on one day.

Inland Trail, late October. I DNFed there last year with a stress fracture. Can't wait to try again! Beautiful course.

I'd like to join in, if I can.

Nearing the end of my recovery from a stress fracture (acquired while training for a Spring marathon). I'm shooting for Akron (9/26) if the recovery goes well, or Indianapolis Monumental Marathon (11/6) if it takes longer.

Have fun! I wanted to run it but didn't get in via lottery Fall plans are TBD at this point although I will be running NYC in November, just uncertain if it'll be a goal race or not.

I let the price increase deadline pass on the Asbury Park Marathon, so I guess I'm not doing it. It was appealing to start a streak at a new marathon, so I could say in the future I ran every one, but it would have been madness to fit it into my fall schedule. I'm definitely signing up for Mohawk/Hudson on 10-10-10.

Steamtown is a pretty close drive from here and supposed to be a good PR course. But I have also heard great things about CIM and my brother lives about two hours from there so I could hang with him for a few days if I can get a free flight out there with my frequent flyer miles. Its all very up in the air right now. Looking for some critical mass locally too. waiting to see who's going where. Always more fun to road trip with a group. Philly is not out of the picture either.

Well, fall season for me is my "fun" season, and Twin Cities is the only definite on October 3 (as a fun & training run/reason to meet up with lots of KR peeps)

As far as the rest of the fall, that's up in the air. I'd like to run Silicon Valley on October 31 (in my caveman costume, like I did last year in tribute to Voo). I might want to do a bunch of stuff around SiliVly to add a star to my Maniacs status, or Vegas or CIM first weekend of December.

I am definitely thinking about maybe running Montreal on September 5. Technically not fall, but still summer. But the challenge of running 42.2 KM instead of 26.2 miles is appealing. But first things first, I run Sugarloaf, Maine this coming Sunday and make definitive plans for any races after that.

I've signed up for my race, but I haven't told anyone but my wife what race it is. All I'll say is that I'm not planning on doing Columbus for the first time in 3 years. I'll be revealing my plans later on (as I'm sure everyone is waiting with baited breath) to ask course veterans for advice about pace goals. I'm hoping I'll be in good enough shape to shoot for a PR, but that's pretty up in the air right now.
