Awww, too bad. The shirt is a tech shirt and everybody has their # printed on their shirt. No race Bibs.

Can't wait.

I might do it this year. Usually a do a low-key local race on Canada Day, but if might be fun to do something bigger. We'll see.

thanks for the link.
I hadn't seen this. I might just head out and run for fun. It's been a while since I ran in a crowd. and it will justify the hot dogs and hamburgers later in the day.

The Ottawa one is great. Nothing like running near the Parliament Buildings on Canada Day morning, everyone wearing white and red shirts, to feel very Canadian. The Canada Day activities on the Hill are just starting to simmer when you are done. Last year they had a problem with recording of O Canada before the start of the race, and one of the runners stepped up and belted out a great version of O Canada before the race. Stirring.

I'll probably run it in Mtl again this year or just cheering if it's very hot and humid.

Nah- it's just a cold
I'll be running it with my boss, and he's taking it easy too so we should come in at 48:00 or something. Why kill yourself, ya know?

I volunteered at race package pick up today. Got my shirt. Quite nice, has a zippered pocket along the side. A bit too much plastic/rubber detail on the front, don't think it'll be great for running, but it is a tech fabric, so I guess that's better than other races I've done.

Now that there are no HBC Canada Day Runs, what are people going to do?

Thought this was a great way to start off the day: nice run around Parliament Hill in Ottawa. There is another run out in Kanata. Curious if there are options elsewhere or whether there is a big hole in the schedule.

I don't think there is anything here to replace it. Usual family entertainment in the park etc, but no runs.

Why are there only 14 posts in most threads and thousands in another on this forum?

You would think it would be a great opportunity for a group like the Running Room to do a Canada Day version of the Resolution Run. That is one of the things I liked about the HBC Run was the sense that it was something happening across Canada.

There's always the Bustukah road races in Kanata. http://www.ncra-ottawa.com/hm/ It's at this race two years ago that I made my race "debut."

There is also now a new 5k race in downtown Ottawa with a similar Jacques Cartier Park start and loop around Parliament Hill. Here the Kanata race is good.

The cool thing about HBC was that it was happening across Canada. I miss that part of it.
