Seriously? I've carried water for a handful of runs, most to test a camelback or carry something else. The only runs I've felt I needed to carry water was:
1) Fell running, up in the mountains - stupid without.
2) On my 20 miler in the middle of summer running for 2 hours 45.

Am I a freak?

Spiral, spin, ride the whirlwind. Knowing when the drumming stops, There'll be no second dance.

I don't carry water for 8 miles and under. I carry a handheld for a lot of mid-length runs. for long runs I wear a fuel belt or a camelbak (holds up to 70 ounces). I think the camelbak 45 ounce in the article looks pretty tempting. That's a lot of water compared to most waist belts. My four bottle fuel belt only holds 28 ounces so I frequently have to drop water somewhere so I can refill bottles.
