Cool weather running pants

I only have ONE pair of cool running pants and they are actually "tights" rather than "pants". I just don't really like wearing "tights" though - skin tight from butt to ankles. I'd rather find a few pairs of looser, but still fitted, pants. My problem is I'm tall (5'9&quotwink.gif, so finding something that is long enough, but not sagging in the butt, is my issue. For some reason, when I do find things that are long enough in the leg, they are also about twice as big in the butt/hips as what I need. I'd still like to look like a girl ya know? So, does anyone have any recommendations on a good, comfy pair of running pants that are long enough for long-legged-runners. and since I'm in oregon, our winters are pretty wet, so something made for running in the rain would be good too.

I'm curious to hear the input here. Since I'm a running newbie I have not run through winter yet and need to gear up on my clothes.

Have you tried any of Sporthill's stuff? I live in it all winter. I think they're made in Oregon, but the online site I use is www.milemarkersports.com. It's not cheap, but I have a pair of their pants that I'm still wearing after 10 years.

Sugoi and Craft both make great cold weather stuff. Take a look at Backcountry.com and Gearwest.com

oooh i'm curious too. last winter i ran in sweats. this year i'm looking for something hot with pockets or sleek under my skirt.

I have tons of tights, and a couple pairs of pants. MY fave pair is my college track pants. I really don't know where we ordered them from and they are old.

I second the vote on Sporthill stuff. I have a pair of the XC pants that I absolutely love. And if you can manage a size small, I found these for $29.95 at Campmor:

Check into Sport Hill I have two pair of their "running pants", and I really like them. I've run down to 25 or so degrees out (I don't think they are rated to go that low, but my legs don't get that cold). It doesn't get much below 25 here, and when it does, I opt for the Dreadmill...

The Sport Hill running pants are kind of tight but not "tights" tight. You can (and should) wear shorts under them. This is a bonus on days where it warms up during your run, you can easily slip the running pants off (zippers at the bottom of the leg to accomodate shoes), and either stash them - or tie them around your waist.

Nothing better than Sporthill XC. I've run in them in -18 degrees and stayed toasty.

I bought a pair of Hind Radiant running pants this last winter at EMS for half price. Very comfy, warm and wind resistant. When it's really, really cold I wear tights underneath them. I looked at Sporthill pants, too, but I preferred the fit of the Hind pants.
