After feeling absolutely horrible on Wednesday after my run I opted to take Thursday off. With the help of [B]rockenmama [/B]I figured out that my iron levels were low, very low, which explained why my runs had been so difficult lately. I stopped at a local health store and picked up a bottle of iron pills. That combined with chowing down on steak on Wednesday night brought my equilibrium back to normal. This morning I was back running my normal easy pace, between 8:45-9:15 minute miles. Earlier in the week I couldn't possibly run faster than a 10:00 min/mile no matter how hard I tried.
So, my pep is back. I woke up bright and early again for a few miles and after eating breakfast and feeding my kids we headed to the gym so that I could top off the day with some weight training and plyometric exercises. I was a bit worried earlier in the week about Sunday's long run because of my low energy levels, but now I am really looking forward to getting my long run in. |
