Has anyone tried these? How do you like them?

I have a pair of the shorts. Honestly, I don't love them. I don't have chafing problems with any of my other shorts, but got the medium length with these, and I do on runs of about 10 miles or more. But I know lots of people who like them.

Chafing is bad. Very bad.

By "medium", do you mean the "LD" ones with the 4" inseam?

Really? i never have chaffing. I own 4 pairs of shorts, 2 pairs of tights. I LOVE THEM! I was wearing them Sat night, if you got a chance to check out my booty on our run :)

I prefer the LD ones as well.

I thought maybe that you had race ready tights.

Not that I was checking out your booty. :D

I just wondered where you were carrying all the clif blocks and whatnot.

yeah. they're the only shorts that I get that with, but I do have rather, ahem, large thighs

hehe, i am like a pack mule :) I LOVE them. If they were not so expensive i would buy more. They are also VERY good in the rain. Unfortunatly i have been in many races with rain.

They make bike short type shorts too, but i have not tried them, no chaffage with those i would assume.

same for me. I wear them out of habit, I guess. I've never worn anything else for a marathon. I don't even use the pockets!!! I've gone to pinning stuff on the front because I hate the bounce in my butt, so I don't really need to wear the racereadys, it's just a comfort thing. I wear the split ones, which is why I only wear at races. They show alot of leg.....and the older I get....the more I'm concerned about showing a sagging rear. But they are nice for quick pees.

Yet another question... the tights, are they made of fairly "sturdy" fabric, or are they revealingly thin?

They are very thick as far as tights go.

I typically go low cost on training gear - But for Racing I bought the LD (4 inch inseam) with all the pockets. I like them so much - I bought 2 more pair. I can get 8 gel packs in them comfortably - 2 of the pockets seal - I keep a bottle of S-Caps if needed.

I can get 8 gel packs in them comfortably . my poor stomach just gurgled when I read that! 8! I *think* I could manage 2.

I pack my race ready's so full that if i got lost on the trail i would probably be good for a few days :)
I carry my phone, pepper spray, chapstick, electrolyte caps, 2-3 packs of clif blocks, gatorade mix, and a granola bar if i am feeling wild.

That's what my camelbak is good for, good to know I have a substitute for all my carrying crap needs.

diablita - I managed over 20 gels in a 50 miler last fall. I figured I would keep the energy flowing down until it came the other way - It never did.

I also wear a camelback, but for marathons, the shorts are great. I usually carry 5-6 gels.

wow! I'm very impressed -- both for gel AND mile quantity! I'm not sure if my stomach just doesn't like the gels, or if it's that I tend to avoid large qtys of sugar due to hypoglycemia so I'm not used to digesting them. Either way, I've learned that I can't tolerate several brands, and that I have to be very careful in races about how much I take in at once and what I wash it down with. I do much better with the Sport Beans but they don't give me the same pick me up.

meri, I tried those but they're SO chewy. Am I the only person who has trouble eating them? Maybe I need to cut them into smaller pieces? Or maybe the heat makes them chewier?

Well, I couldn't decide between tights and shorts, so I bought the capris. Which might fit me like tights, as short as I am! :D

They arrived already!

Too late for today's run, though. It was so warm I was thinking I should have ordered the shorts!
