So I bought this vest today at Target for around $25 U.S. dollars. I'm pretty sure I'll feel like a crossing guard or some other sort of uniformed employee.

Check it out:

Next I'll plan to buy some sort of clip-on flashing light for the occasional low light run.

But that's where I'll draw the line.

Not a bad investment. I honestly think anything that keeps me safer on a run is a good investment.

I have a Nike ClimaFit vest that my mom found on sale for $3. It has light up LEDs in it to keep me visible. I also have a Princeton Tech 4-LED headlamp that I wear so that people can see me and I can see the sidewalks.

Another great safety item is a RoadId (http://www.roadid.com) I have their shoe id and it is never an issue for me. I will say this though, my next door neighbor is a cop. He told me "The idea of a shoe id is great, but first responders are trained to look for things like medic alert bracelets and necklaces. They're not usually looking on a pair of shoes."

Enjoy your vest, and stay safe!

I love my RoadID! Glad I haven't needed it yet. ;)

It's in the sporting goods department in the same aisle as all the yoga stuff. It's actually called a walking vest. And it came with a handy little booklet all about walking. It amazed me that they could write so much about walking.

I think I'm going to get one.

And darn it! I was just at Target and forgot to look for it. At least I remember to get some Valentine's sweeties for the kids.

for $16 from NightGear and it's on sale now for $14.45, plus shipping. It seems to work OK.

Hi everyone,

I wear this every time I run at night:

Someone working the docks at Eurotunnel gave it to me, it's construction worker kind of stuff. OK in the winter, but kind of hot in the summer.

Actually it's from Domenico GHIRLANDAIO, painted around 1490. It's at the Louvres and it's absolutely stunning.

I have one of these and have been very happy with it. One of the guys from work said I looked like I belong in the movie "Tron" (for those of you old enough to remember it)

I like the Xinglet better...I wish I knew it existed before I bought my current one. I mean mine is fine and all, but the velcro on the straps on the side catch on my sleeve. Maybe I'll have a summer and winter one, not that I need one in the summer...
