View Full Version : Blaze orange gear?

Hey all:

Does anyone have any good links for some safety/blaze orange running gear? I'm hoping to find a long sleeve tech shirt and some kind of running hat. My beef with the hats I've seen is none of them seem the slightest bit breathable. It's still way too warm here for a ski cap...? Ideas?

I've checked out Cabela's online and they have some pure polyester stuff, but that's about it for non-insulated.

In the past I've just worn my night vest, but I saw my first hunter out this weekend and figured it would be better to get with the program and get some orange gear this year.

Has anyone seen any?

Thanks!

Under Armour seems to have the market cornered on the blaze orange tech stuff as far as I can tell--I'm guessing that's probably what you found. Nike has a short-sleeved dri-fit tee in blaze orange on their site and others, but the long sleeved version is "soft orange".

THIS (http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2643258&cp=2367824.2292572.2292648.2292653&parentPage=family&searchId=2292572)is what you're looking for, actually ... I think?! (for a hat anyway)

And how about this (http://www.rei.com/product/755381) long sleeve shirt?

Thanks for the ideas.

The UA site is way complicated! I could not figure that one out. They seem to sell about a million different shirts. Each one in 10 colors.

Jen - I like the REI shirt. Technically I guess they are not blaze orange, but it's not like I'm going out on game lands either (dumb, but not that dumb!).

The hat is exactly what I'm looking for. I don't know why I didn't think of Dicks.

Thanks again!

PTom -

I run in the dark mornings and use some gear from Brooks. I have their long sleeve half zip and it's quite breatheable. Now that we're in the 30's and high 20's at 5am, I've been throwing it over my UA mock neck and it still wicks really well.

It's not orange, but that greeny yellow that reflects well. I hope this link works.

You could wear this:

and this:

And, NO, I don't condone these article of clothing at all, but I hear that other hunters wear them. In fact, if you would prefer these, I could steal some of them from my parents house for you! :D

Tom - got the shirt from REI. LOVE it. and it might say aurora red is the color, but it is a nice bright orange.

Get a shirt with a big target on it - if that doesn't motivate you to run fast as hell I don't know what would.

I am the king of bright orange, yellow, green & red shirts & jackets.

I got a great orange 1/4 zip illuminite jacket from these guys:

I also have some of that Brooks Visibility line as well

I ended up getting this sucker:

Asics Core in 'Cayenne', i.e. orange. I'm not dumb enough to run IN the game land, so this is close enough for me.

Pacer: Thanks for the idea!! I would also add a brown hat and big fluffy cottontail!
