who's got their own? I never really thought about it before but today I got caught up looking at the add for them on some race site and started to wonder. It would be nice to have it already fixed on my shoe, not have to stop at the chip-nazi's while I'm still trying to catch my breath and it keeps all your race info in one place. Now what are the cons? price? anything else?
thanks:-D

I see the odd person carrying their shoe to registration to be sure their chip number has been properly entered. I doubt it's necessary.
I find the 10 seconds it takes to put on the chip-nazi's chip not to be too constraining. :)

Implants. They should have chip implants.

I have one. It does get me a slight discount at local races, so there is a very slim possibility of making the purchase price back. The downside that I see to it is that you have to remember to bring it with you to the expo. For a 5K or a small race, there is no expo, so no big deal. For a big race (think a Rock N Roll Marathon), if you don't bring it with you, they can't scan it and you can't use it. I've never had any trouble getting a black chip when I forgot my yellow one. Also, the 2 times I have forgotten it, it turned out that I didn't need it. Maui '06 decided not to use chip timing and Air Force '07 used a different technology. Nice synchroncity, but go figure.
On balance, I'd say it's an interesting souvenir but I wouldn't recommend buying one.
