And that's the way it is spelled up here. Where's here?

Well day one we went through the very touristy managed trail of Johnston Canyon in Banff NP out past the slightly less touristy Ink Pots and looked at some wilderness backpacking routes. Here's a couple of shots.

Mountain reflected in one of the Ink Pots. Johnston Creek trail in Banff NP. There's about a dozen people hidden in this picture - took a while to take! Here's a bit of what it's like past there where the tourist hordes are gone. Click to enlarge.

Saturday we drove out of Banff NP, up and over the Kicking Horse Pass and into Yoho NP. We drove up the Yoho Valley to Takkakaw Falls - also touristy, but then headed up the other side of the valley to the Iceline Trail and the remnants of the Emerald Glacier along the Vice President. Up and over and up and over and up and over moraine and glacial plain to the Iceline Summit. First here's Takkakaw Falls, then I'll get out of the way and let the pictures of glaciers (across the valley as well!) and tarns and yes... Takkakaw Falls from waaaay up there tell the story. Be sure and try and see where Takkaw falls is, it is in several pics.

The panorama from the trail summit, 240 degrees. Glaciers all over the place. 710 m in elevation gain from the valley floor, but more like 900 metres if you take in the ups and downs of scaling four moraines.

Monday we spent "stretching the muscles out" on a managed trail near Banff that took us to Sundance Canyon, a decidedly more strenuous walk. Nothing too spectacular from me here, just some pics of the Bow River with the Massive Range in behind, some forest and some stream.
